LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 release holiday operation schedules for Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022

By Civ Alonzo-Cruz

The operators of railway systems Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRT-1), Light Rail Transit Authority (LRT-2), and Metro Rail Line 3 (MRT-3) in Metro Manila announced on Thursday (Dec. 23) that they will adjust their operation schedules from Dec. 24, 2021-Jan. 1, 2022 to help passengers to plan their trips in advance on their shortened operating hours.

Here are the schedules released by train operators:

Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRT-1)

The LRMC will implement shortened operating hours on Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) and December 31 (New Year’s Eve).

LRT-1 will continue to serve passengers on Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), Dec. 30 (Rizal Day), and Jan. 1, 2022 (New Year’s Day) following the regular weekends and holiday schedule.

Light Rail Transit Authority (LRT-2)

The LRTA traditionally implement shortened operating hours every Dec. 24, 31, and Jan. 1 in anticipation of a significant decline in ridership and to allow their station security personnel to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve with their families.

Regular train service operating hours will be observed at LRT-2 on Christmas, Dec. 25, 2021.

Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3)

The Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) has also shortened its operations schedule for Dec. 24, 25, 31, 2021, and Jan. 1, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Railway (PNR) has no announcement of revised operating schedules yet as of Thursday, Dec. 23

However, those who want to know the PNR train schedule may refer to their timetable posted on their website.

As the holiday approaches, Metro Manila train authorities are still reminding commuters to bear with the standard security inspection policies, including opening of gift-wrapped packages.

Railway transit operators are also advising the riding public to abide by their policies and plan their trips ahead to avoid inconvenience and long queues. -rir
