The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, otherwise known as the Manila Cathedral, has donated P4 million to nine dioceses badly hit by Typhoon Odette.

In a Facebook post, the basilica reported that as of December 24, they have collected a total of P4,470,383.86 through special collections.

“We are pleased to inform you that we have already forwarded the donations you sent to the dioceses that are greatly affected by the Typhoon Odette,” the post said.

It added that P500,000 were each given to the Archdiocese of Cebu, Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay, and the Dioceses of Masson, Kabankalan, San Carlos, Surigao, Tagbilaran, Talibon, and Tandag.

“This will greatly help the social services ministry of the different dioceses in charge of their relief efforts,” the Manila Cathedral added.

The Cathedral also thanked those who have shared their blessings with the typhoon victims.

“Again, our deepest gratitude to your generosity. May we welcome the Divine Child in our hearts. Merry Christmas!” the post added.

In a previous Facebook post, the Cathedral said “all Mass collections and online donations … from the evening of December 18 and the whole day of December 19 will be given to the victims” of “Odette”. (PNA)-rir
