20 of 48 Bohol towns have power supply restored

Nearly half of Bohol province continues to experience blackouts over two weeks after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette.

According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), only 20 of the 48 towns have their power supply restored, of which nine are on partial status.

The local government said it is not certain on the date of the complete restoration.

“’Yung National Grid Corporation of the Philippines [NGCP], handa nang magbigay ng power barge connections, pero ‘yung distribution utilities natin…hindi pa sila ready,” Gov. Arthur Yap said.

The residents are also challenged by the absence of water supply. This has pushed them to look for alternative means to acquire water.

Meanwhile, the local government vowed to focus on possible sources of clean water pending the restoration of electricity. – Report from Louisa Erispe/AG-rir
