By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – Most parts of the country will experience isolated light rain showers due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan”, the weather bureau said on Tuesday (Jan. 4).

In its 4:00 a.m. weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rains are expected over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao region.

Grace Castañeda, PAGASA weather forecaster, said residents of those areas must be alert for possible flash floods or landslides during scattered moderate to heavy rains.

Light rains will prevail over the Bicol region, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon, while isolated light rains will be experienced over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over the entire archipelago.

Strong to gale-force winds are forecast over the seaboards of northern and central Luzon, seaboards of southern Luzon, seaboards of mainland Palawan, seaboards of the Visayas, and the northern, western, and eastern seaboards of Mindanao.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves. (PNA) – bny
