Repatriation flights sa OFWs na apektado ng COVID-19 pandemic, patuloy

Tatlong repatriation efforts ang nakakasang isagawa ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa buwan ng Pebrero.

Sa update ni Jose Cabrera ng Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs (DFA-OUMWA) sa House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs, magkakaroon aniya ng chartered repatriation flights ang DFA sa Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, at Riyadh.

Sa kabuuan, umabot naman sa 456,230 na Pilipinong apektado ng COVID-19 pandemic ang na-repatriate ng ahensiya hanggang nitong Enero 24.

Ang Department of Labor and Employment – Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (DOLE-OWWA) naman ay nakapagtala ng 900,455 na repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) sa ilalim ng kanilang “Uwian Na” program.

Nilinaw naman ni OWWA Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac na kaya mas mataas ang bilang ng OWWA kumpara sa DFA ay dahil kasama sa kanilang bilang ang mga OFW na bumili ng sarili nilang ticket.

Tinukoy naman ni Ramon Pastrana ng DOLE International Labor Affairs Bureau na mula sa 1,005,714 documented OFWs, 898,894 na ang napauwi nila sa kani-kanilang probinsya, 28,894 ang for repatriation, at 77,926 naman ang nagdesisyon na manatili sa kani-kanilang work sites.  (Radyo Pilipinas)   -ag
