Rain showers likely over parts of PH Wednesday

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – Some areas in the country will experience rains caused by the shear line, easterlies, and the northeast monsoon or “amihan,” the weather bureau said Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Batanes and Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, due to the shear line.

The same weather condition will be experienced in the Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Davao regions, as well as Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Bohol, but this is caused by the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin.

Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to heavy rains.

The northeast monsoon, on the other hand, will bring isolated light rains over the Ilocos provinces, Apayao, Abra, and Kalinga.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon, the Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao.

Strong winds and gales will be experienced over the northern seaboard of northern Luzon, the western seaboard of northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of northern Luzon. Fishing boats and other small sea vessels are advised not to venture into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) – bny
