By Pearl Gumapos

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim on Wednesday (Feb. 23) said that the region has yet to join the national elections, adding that their transition period has been extended to 2025.

“Iyong BARMM mismo as a parliamentary form of government ay hindi parin sasali sa 2022 national elections kasi extended iyong transition period namin until 2025,” Ebrahim said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“Pero iyong sa local government na under sa BARMM ay sumasali na po kami. Mayroon kaming political party. Mayroon pong mga kandidato sa mga local government,” he said.

The region is currently coordinating with the PNP to ensure a peaceful and fair elections period.

We are coordinating with the PNP para ma-ensure na magkaroon ng peaceful na election at saka malinis na election.

As for the establishment of a regional government, the reappointment of members of the parliament is currently with the Office of the President awaiting his signature.

“Sa ngayon, nakalatag iyong reappointment ng BARMM, mga miyembro ng parliament sa opisina ng Presidente for his signature,” Ebrahim said. – bny
