OCTA: More VisMin areas down to low risk COVID-19 status

Some highly urbanized cities in Visayas and Mindanao have been downgraded to low risk classification of COVID-19, according to the OCTA Research.

Based on OCTA data shared by Prof. Guido David, Bacolod, Cebu City, Lapu Lapu, Mandaue, Ormoc and Tacloban are at low risk, while Iloilo City was at moderate risk as of March 2.

The areas have recorded negative growth rates, while Iloilo has a 28% growth rate under moderate risk with an average daily attack rate of 7.85.

In Mindanao, the areas under the low risk category are Butuan, Cotabato City, Davao City, Gen Santos, Iligan, and Zamboanga City, while Cagayan de Oro “remained at moderate risk.”

On March 3, the Department of Health reported 989 additional COVID-19 cases in the country, 1,349 recoveries, and 34 fatalities. To date, there have been 3,664,905 total cases and 3,557,909 cases since the pandemic began.
