Malacañang assured the public that the government will make every effort to lower commodity prices following the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) report that inflation for March 2022 has accelerated to 4% due to the rapid rise in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages.
The latest figure is the highest rate since the recorded 4.8% last October 2021.
“We will not relax in our efforts and will work twice as hard to address the national issue of higher prices” Presidential Communications Operations Office Chief and acting Presidential Spokesperson Sec. Martin Andanar said in a press statement.
Andanar said the government’s economic managers will keep a tight watch over the rise of inflation.
“Our economic managers continue to keep a tight watch over inflation as it hits 4% in March 2022. We will not relax in our efforts and will work twice as hard to address the national issue of higher prices,” he said. -ngs
