Gov’t studies setting vax card expiration dates

The government is looking into setting an expiration date on vaccination cards to urge more people to receive booster shots.

According to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Epimaco Densing in the Laging Handa public briefing on Monday (April 4), the said plan was intended to encourage the remaining Filipinos to receive booster shots as they only recorded 12,154,567 out of the 66,125,926 total number of fully vaccinated Filipinos.

“Well, isa po iyan sa pinag-uusapan namin ngayon, inuulit ko, iyong mga istratehiya on the policy side para iyong tao ay ma-force ‘no na magpabakuna or magpa-boosters.

So isa diyan, nabanggit ko na kanina, redefinition of fully vaccinated; at pangalawa, ito ngang posibilidad na kung hindi ka pa nakakapag-booster eh after six months, automatic iyong inyong vax card ay expired na,” he said.

Moreover, a total of 27 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine was about to expire in July.

The Department of Health (DOH) recently stated its beneficial effects on increasing the efficacy of the previous COVID-19 doses. PTV News/MP-ngs
