DSWD activates quick response teams for ‘Agaton’-hit areas

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has activated its quick response teams to provide aid to areas affected by Typhoon “Agaton.”

In a Laging Handa briefing, DSWD Spokesperson Director Irene Dumlao reported that they provided almost 4.2 million of augmentation support in Davao del Norte, over 500,000 in Baybay, Leyte and prepositioned 17,000 family food packs for Naval, Biliran and Regional Resource Operations Center in Palo, Leyte.

“Sa katunayan nga po, ang ating ahensiya ay nakapagpadala na ng mahigit P4.2 million na halaga ng augmentation support sa Davao del Norte. Gayundin, [ang] ating field office ay magpapahatid din ng family food packs na nagkakahalaga ng mahigit P500,000 sa bayan naman ng Baybay,” Dumlao said.

“Mayroon din tayo sa Naval, Biliran at gayundin ang ating Regional Resource Operations Center sa Palo, Leyte ay mayroon din namang mahigit 17,000 family food packs na naka-preposition,” she added.

Dumlao also noted that as of 6:00 p.m. Monday (April 11) more than 55,000 families or 218,000 individuals have been affected by Typhoon “Agaton” in 184 barangays in the Regions 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, and Caraga.
