Cambodia assures preparedness to host SEA Games

Cambodia assured it is prepared to host the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games for the first time in 2023.

“Cambodia is ready to host and they promised an excellent edition of the games,” Philippine Olympics Committee (POC) President Abraham Tolentino said in an interview with PTV Sports.

Thirty nine sports that are on the initial list of Cambodia for the prestigious event: athletics, aquatics, badminton, basketball, boxing, billiards, cycling, canoeing, hockey, judo, karate, muay thai, petanque, sailing, sepak takraw, soft tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, traditional boat race, triathlon, volleyball, wrestling, and weightlifting, among others.

Meanwhile, six sports which include water polo, cricket, shooting, wushu, floorball and obstacle sports are also considered to be included to the 2023 sportsfest.

With this historic hosting of Cambodia of the biennial event, Timor Leste is the only country left in Southeast Asia who has not yet hosted the event. Report from Khay Asuncion-ML-gb-ag
