LPA to bring rains over most of PH

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – The low-pressure area (LPA) formerly known as Tropical Depression Agaton will continue to dampen most parts of the country, the weather bureau said Wednesday, Apr. 13.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA is slowly moving away from the Philippine landmass and heading in the direction of Typhoon Malakas (international name).

“Malakas” was last tracked at 1,545 km. east of central Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

“‘Agaton’ downgraded into an LPA last night. However, it will bring heavy rains over the Visayas, Bicol region, and parts of Mindanao,” Aurelio said. “’Malakas’ is continuously moving away from PAR.”

On Wednesday, scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Eastern Visayas, Masbate, and Sorsogon due to the LPA.

The LPA will also cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the rest of the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, the rest of Bicol, Marinduque, Romblon, and Quezon.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have fair weather, with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are forecast over the eastern seaboards of Luzon, the Visayas, Mindanao, and extreme northern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) – bny
