Duque administers booster shots to 2 immunocompromised person

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III personally administered COVID-19 booster shots to immunocompromised individuals during his clinic visit in Quezon City on Tuesday, April 26.

Two human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-positive individuals received their first and second booster doses inoculated by Duque at Social Hygiene Clinic in Project 6, Quezon City.

During his visit, Duque stressed the importance of getting vaccinated with primary doses and booster shots as extra protection for immunocompromised persons against diseases, such as COVID-19.

The administration of the second booster shots is only limited to immunocompromised individuals as it is the only group in the present supported with sufficient research and data to get boosted, Duque noted.

He added that the Inter-Agency Task Force is planning to place more areas under Alert Level 1 before the May 9 elections due to increasing vaccine rate.

According to the DOH’s initial report, the department recorded over 800 boosted individuals during the start of its second booster rollout on Monday.

Duque urged the public anew to get their COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots to prevent a surge of cases.
