PCG retrieves bodies of 5 children who drowned in Taal Lake

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) retrieved on Tuesday, May 4, the five bodies of five children who drowned while swimming in Taal Lake in Balete, Batangas.

In an incident report Tuesday, May 3, PCG said the five children, aged seven, nine, 10, and 12, went missing after swimming around Taal Lake in Brgy. Looc.

At about 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday, PCG retrieved the body of an 8-year-old girl about 10 meters from the shoreline and 15 feet underwater. The body of a 12-year-old girl was found nearby 15 minutes later.

At around 7:45 a.m. Monday, PCG retrieved the body of an 8-year-old boy approximately 25 feet underwater and 10 meters away from where the first two victims were found. 

Five minutes later, the body of a 7-year-old boy was retrieved at the same location. At about 9:47 a.m., PCG found the body of a 10-year-old boy.

The bodies were brought to the San Fernando Funeral Homes in Brgy. Marawoy, Lipa City, Batangas.
