The Department of Energy (DOE)  assured there is enough power supply and normal operations of transmission facilities for the May 9 elections.

DOE Secretary Alfonso Cusi said they are hands-on in monitoring and addressing different energy concerns from their department.

“We continue to work closely with the rest of the Energy family in monitoring and addressing energy concerns,” Cusi said.

Based on latest data, a total of 61 electric cooperatives experienced 201 power interruptions, while five distribution utilities experienced seven power interruptions.

DOE noted that all vote counting machines can last up to 10 to 12 hours if power interruption happens in different areas across the country. – ag
