DOST-FNRI shows new healthier, enhanced nutribun look

By Myris Lee

The Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) introduced in a social media post on Wednesday, May 18, the look of the enhanced nutribun or “e-nutribun.”

According to FNRI, the enhanced nutribun, with new flavors of orange and purple sweet potato, is healthier than the original version and does not contain artificial coloring and flavoring.

The 165 grams of e-nutribun contains 96% of the recommended dietary intake of 502 calories, 17 grams of protein, 6 milligrams of iron, and 384 micrograms of vitamin A.

The  DOST’s R & D and International Linkages Program Management Center of DOST Regional Office 1 said the FNRI is continuously conducting research to make a more enhanced nutribun.

Nutribun was developed by the United States Agency for International Development in the 1970s to overcome malnutrition in the Philippines which were distributed in different schools all over the country through feeding programs.

Meanwhile, FNRI is open to share this technology to everyone by filling their form at
