3 kids dead in Quezon City fire

Three children were killed and three other individuals were brought to a hospital after a fire hit a three-storey house in Kaliraya St., Brgy. Tatalon, Quezon City past 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 29.

The fire victims’ father said they were sleeping when the fire took place, and that he was only able to save their baby. Their other children who are four, eight, and nine year olds, died after being trapped inside the house.

The mother of the household and her 13 year-old child were brought to a hospital due to injuries sustained after jumping to another house from the third floor of the burning building.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Quezon City said it was not difficult to extinguish the fire which reached the first alarm, but it had already spread when firefighters arrived.

The fire broke out in the third floor’s vacant room. The BFP has yet to identify the cause of the fire.

“Inamin naman ng tatay po ng tatay na malaki na po yung apoy, posible po noong pagtawag late na rin po,” QC Fire Station 4 commander SInsp. Jose Felipe Arreza said.

“Although vacant room ‘yan, kailangan natin i-chek ‘yung mga wiring connections natin kasi live pa rin niyan,” he advised. – Report from Noel Talacay/AG– gb
