P764-M new equipment acquired by PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) received on Tuesday, June 7, a total of P764 million worth of vehicles, firearms, K9 dogs, night vision devices, and all-purpose vests to support its operations. 

“I know that this procurement is most advantageous to the PNP, cost-wise and in terms of quality, to support the operations of the Philippine National Police,” PNP Officer-in-Charge LtGen. Vicente Danao said.

The new set of equipment include 16 units brand new vans, three units light transport vehicle, 8,358 units 9-mm striker-fired pistol “GIRSAN, and 8,500 units 5.56-mm basic assault rifle “GALIL”.

The PNP also acquired 34 units 7.62mm light machine gun “NEGEV”, 45 units explosive detector dog, 620 units autogated night vision device, and 5,298 units all purpose vest (Undershirt Vest).

All the equipment will be distributed to different PNP units nationwide.

The procured equipment were funded through the Capability Enhancement Programs (CEPs) 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, Congress-introduced initiative appropriation for fiscal year 2021, and trust receipts 2018 amounting to P764,115,073.40.

Moreover, the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. turnover a unit of Toyota Grandia HiAce van, while PNP Vice-chairperson Teresita Ang-See donated personal protective equipment to the police force.

Danao thanked all the stakeholders for the new equipment of PNP, and encouraged the officers who will use the equipment to take good care of them.

“Sa mga officers, lalong-lalo na yung gagamit, please have the heart of maintaining these vehicles, these equipment para naman it will build to last, it was built to last and it will be protecting not only the lives of our PNP but the lives of Filipino as well,” Danao said. – ag
