DOH records 34-K dengue cases since January

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Thursday, June 9, a 23% increase in dengue cases with a total of 34,938 cases recorded from January 1 to May 21 this year, including 10,738 tolled from April 24 to May 31. 

The latest count is higher than the 28,336 dengue case tally during the same period in 2021.

 

Most dengue cases were reported in Region VII with 4,544, Region III with 4,312, and Region IX with 3,215.  The same regions had the most count for April 24 to May 31 with 1,416 cases, 1,329, and 856, respectively.

The DOH said 10 out of the 17 regions experienced a rise in cases, namely Regions II, III, Mimaropa, V, VI, VII, IX, XI, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

So far this year, 180 deaths have already been recorded, with 23% of the deaths reported in April at 42, followed by January with 39, February with 35, March with 33, and May with 31. – ag
