8 persons nabbed for grave coercion in Boracay hotel

The Philippine National Police (PNP) nabbed eight persons for causing alarm and possible harm in Cerca Hotel in Malay, Aklan on Saturday, June 18.

According to a hotel staff, four male in civilian attire arrived in the lobby, one suspect pointed a firearm at them.

The complainants ran and hid out of fear but later went back to grab their belongings.

After a while, the complainants saw another perpetrator changing his clothes to a security guard uniform.

The Malay Municipal Police Station arrived at the scene for police assistance.

The suspects were identified as Jomar Guevarra, Carlos Ingo, Jomar Conrad Ilagan, Jomar Solano, Roqui Tumbagahan, Gardie Maming, Mel Jhon Fernandez, and Baldonero Torres.

Meanwhile, PNP Officer-in-Charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. commended the Malay Police for their quick response in preventing the situation from escalating.

“Those armed suspects posed threat not only to the hotel staff, but also to the guests. We laud the quick action of our police personnel that prevented the situation from escalating and nobody was harmed,” Danao said.

Investigation is ongoing to determine the perpetrators’ motives for threatening the hotel staff and guests. – gb
