EDSA-Kamuning flyover to close for 1 month repair

By Myris Lee

The EDSA-Kamuning flyover will be closed starting Saturday, June 25, for one-month repair, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced.

The full closure of the flyover will take effect beginning 6:00 a.m. Saturday.

According to the MMDA, the closure will be done to speed up the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) work in mending the large cracks and potholes in the flyover.

The rehabilitation, measuring 30 meters long, will enclose three lanes of the flyover and the EDSA Carousel bus pathway.

According to DPWH Officer-in-Charge District Engineer Eduardo Santos, the one-month closure is needed because repairs will be done manually without heavy machinery and concrete mixes have a seven-day curing period to ensure the strength, stability and resistance of the structure.

The MMDA also informed the public to use alternative routes in the course of repairs including the service road or Scout Borromeo Street, Eugenio Lopez Drive, and other Mabuhay lanes. – gb
