LPA, ITCZ to bring rains over parts of PH

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

A low-pressure area (LPA) and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Palawan and Mindanao will bring rains over parts of the country on Wednesday, June 22, the weather bureau said.

The LPA was last spotted in the vicinity of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

“It still has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone and might dissipate in the next 24 to 48 hours,” Grace Castañeda of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

She, however, noted that the LPA would still bring rains over parts of Luzon.

Cagayan and Quezon will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The same weather condition will prevail over Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao region due to the LPA and ITCZ.

PAGASA said floods and landslides are possible in those areas, due to moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will continue to prevail across the archipelago. – gb
