President Marcos lauds Duterte over admin’s achievements

By Katrina Gracia Consebido

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. commended in his speech on Thursday, June 30, former president Rodrigo Duterte for his achievements during his six-year term as the country’s chief executive.

In his inaugural speech at the National Museum, Marcos cited that Duterte had “built more and better than all the administrations” after the presidency of his late father and former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Marcos added that a lot of developments and changes had taken place in the country in ramping up the economy and in nation building.

“Much has been built and so well that the economic dogma of dispersing industry to develop the least likely places has been upturned. Development was brought to them,” he said.

He also vowed that he will “continue” and “complete on schedule” what the previous administration had started in bringing out the country’s potential.

“Investors are now setting up industries along the promising routes built, and yet the potential of this country is not exhausted,” he noted.

“Following these giant steps, we will continue to build. I will complete on schedule the projects that have been started. I am not interested in taking credit. I want to build on success that’s already happening,” he added.

Duterte was known for his infrastructure projects under the Build, Build, Build program, and for the construction of new roads to boost the country’s economy. – ag
