The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the inauguration ceremony of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday, June 30, at the National Museum was successful and orderly.

PNP officer-in-charge LtGen. Vicente Danao Jr. said there were “no significant untoward incidents in Manila and other locations nationwide during the inauguration day.”

Danao said PNP staff and other law enforcement personnel had prepared well to ensure that the inauguration will be “solemn and orderly.”

“Through activation of Manila Task Force Shield, our police force along with other government agencies have successfully prepared and implemented all security measures for solemn and orderly conduct of the inauguration of President Marcos,” he said.

“I extend the congratulations of the national leadership to the inter-agency committee that put together this well-coordinated and well-organized national event,” he added.

The PNP said there were no “significant incidents and public assemblies coinciding with the presidential inaugural” aside from a brief mass action staged by a small group in Quezon City.

Prior to the inauguration, the PNP asked protesters to gather only in designated freedom parks. They also estimated around 1,200 to 1,500 attendees that can be accommodated at the National Museum near the stage area.

A general viewing area was also placed in the Intramuros golf area estimated to accomodate a total of 300,000 people.  – ag
