PH detects additional BA.5, BA.2.12.1, BA.4 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday, July 12, the detection of additional 60 BA.5 Omicron sub-variant cases, 17 BA.2.12.1 cases, and two BA.4 cases.

According to DOH, 58 individuals detected with BA.5 cases are from Region 6 and one each from Regions 11 and 12. One individual is unvaccinated, while the remaining 59 individuals’ vaccination status have yet to be verified.  

Of the BA.5 cases, 43 have already recovered, 14 are undergoing isolation, and the status of the three are being verified.

Moreover, six individuals from Region 6, 10 from Region 11, and a returning overseas Filipino tested positive for BA.2.12.1 subvariant.

Out of the positive cases, 15 have recovered while the two individuals remain in isolation.

Furthermore, two individuals tested positive for BA.4 cases with mild symptoms and have already recovered.

DOH data show that most areas in the National Capital Regions have shown a “sharp increase” in the number of COVID-19 cases, while Mindanao is “still on a slow uptrend.”  – ag
