Bowling legend Bong Coo to lead PSC

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. appointed on Wednesday, July 20, bowling legend Olivia Garcia “Bong” Coo as the commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

The Office of the Executive Secretary, through Press secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles, confirmed Coo’s appointment.

Coo, 74, garnered a total of 78 medals from all the regional and world events she participated in.

She was also hailed as four-time world champion, world bowling hall of fame, and PSC hall of fame awardee.

According to Coo she had to quit her post as the Philippine Bowling Federation president due to the new task assigned to her.

“Also quite sad I have to resign as PBF president from bowling as POC chair, but I know I can be of more help in this new position,” she said.

Coo also vowed to “continue her advocacy of strengthening women’s participation in the field of sports.”

Along with Coo, Angeles also announced the appointment of Danilo Cruz as the new director-general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. –Report from Khay Asuncion/KC – gb
