President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 25 was “peaceful and orderly” with “no major untoward incident” according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The PNP on Tuesday, July 26, commended security forces of the government who worked together for the success of the Chief Executive’s first state address.

“We attribute the peaceful and orderly conduct of SONA to the cooperation, collaboration, coordination, and commitment of all agencies involved in the planning and implementation of the security plans,” the PNP said in a statement.

PNP expressed gratitude to the public including progressive groups for their cooperation through complying with security protocols implemented before and during the event.

“We also thank the general public including the progressive groups for their cooperation in the security guidelines that we have implemented,” PNP said.

The PNP vowed to “continue to perform its responsibility in ensuring peace and order in the community.” A six-day gun ban was also implemented beginning on July 22 and will be lifted on July 27.  –ag.
