Magnitude 5.1 quake jolts Isabela

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck 75 kilometers southeast of Dinapigue, Isabela on Wednesday afternoon, July 27.

The quake, which was tectonic in origin and had a 20-kilometer depth, was felt at 5:04 p.m., according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Intensity II was felt in Quezon City, while Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Baler, Aurora; Peñablanca, Cagayan; Maddela, Quirino; and  Ilagan, Isabela.

No damages are expected but aftershocks may take place. 

Earlier on Wednesday, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake hit Abra province, leaving four reported fatalities in the Cordillera region and damages in public and private properties. AG– gb
