Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia defended Carmelite Sisters of Cebu after a scene in a film allegedly put the Filipino nuns in a negative light.
Garcia made the statement Tuesday night, Aug. 2, after a series of photos from a film showed late President Cory Aquino playing mahjong with some religious sisters.
“I stand with the Carmelite nuns of Cebu. And I condemn any malicious attempt to malign them,”
The Carmelite nuns also issued a statement Wednesday, Aug. 3, calling out the film’s production team for an “attempt to distort history.”
