Ex-Pres. Fidel Ramos laid to rest

Former President Fidel V. Ramos was laid to rest on Tuesday morning, Aug. 9, at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

A simple and solemn state funeral was given to the former chief executive.

Ramos’ urn was put in a bronze casket covered with the Philippine flag and was brought to the Heroes Gate to Heaven carried by six commissioned pallbearers.

His urn was received by the military personnel along with his wife and former first lady Amelita “Ming” Ramos which marked the arrival of honors and the funeral march going to the gravesite.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army held a three gun salute for the former statesman.

Former first lady Ramos expressed gratitude for all the support they received, “Salamat sa inyong lahat, sa tulong nyo.”

“Mahirap ang buhay sa military pero kinaya namin. Tumulong si President Ramos, kayang-kaya nya. He [was] able to raise five daughters, eight grandsons, and five granddaughters. Kaya natin ‘to, sabi niya,” she continued.
