A low-pressure area (LPA) was spotted at 930 km. east of central Luzon but has a small chance of developing into a storm over the weekend, the weather bureau said Saturday, Aug. 20.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA has no immediate effect on the vast areas of Luzon.

It, however, forecast partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by localized thunderstorms for Metro Manila and the rest of the country, particularly late in the afternoon till evening.

Early morning isolated rain showers were already reported in northern Palawan, the Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines provinces, and Quezon.

Winds in Luzon will be light to moderate and headed east to southeast with slight to moderate coastal waters.

For the rest of the country, winds will be similar in strength but headed southeast to southwest, with similar coastal water conditions.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 25°C to 33°C; Laoag City, 24°C to 31°C; Tagaytay City, 23°C to 30°C; Metro Cebu, 24°C to 31°C; Cagayan de Oro City, 24°C to 31°C; and Metro Davao, 26°C to 33°C. – gb
