Two days before classes begin, the Department of Education (DepEd) reported that over 27 million students enrolled for the upcoming school year.
As of Friday, Aug. 19, DepEd said the total tally stood at 27,158,578.
The agency earlier said that it is expecting 28.6 million students to enroll for the first face-to-face classes in two years.
Calabarzon recorded the highest tally of enrollees with 3,709,599 enrolled learners, followed by the National Capital Region with 2,669,618.
The new school year begins Monday, Aug. 22. Meanwhile, the implementation of full in-person classes is slated to start in November. -ag
