LPA off Cagayan develops into tropical depression

A low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into tropical depression, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Aug. 21.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the weather bureau said the LPA was spotted 755 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan.

It said the tropical depression will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Bicol Region and the provinces of Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Samar and Biliran.

Residents in these areas are warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains, it added.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have fair weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Visayas, Mindanao, Palawan, and the rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The temperature will range between 30.6 °C and 24.6 °C. – gb
