The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday, Aug. 26, deployed seven buses and two military trucks along Commonwealth Ave. in Quezon City to transport commuters as it boosts its Libreng Sakay program.

The additional vehicles will transport commuters from Doña Carmen to Welcome Rotonda.

“The Libreng Sakay program in Commonwealth is expected to benefit 500 to 600 passengers per day and we are mulling to continue it until December this year,” MMDA Acting Chairperson Engr. Carlo Dimayuga III said.

Free rides are offered during weekdays from 6:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte lauded the MMDA for providing free rides to the public which eases the burden of the commuters from their daily trip.

“I am very happy that transportation agencies are working hand in hand with the local government in easing the burden of the commuting public,” she said.  -ag
