Super Typhoon Hinnamnor enters PAR, now #HenryPH

By Alec Go

Super Typhoon Hinnamnor has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

It was given its local name “Henry.”

PAGASA says it will start issuing Tropical Cyclone Bulletins starting 11:00 p.m.

During the 11:00 a.m. briefing, PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said they are monitoring the extreme Northern Luzon area due to Henry.

“Kapag sumubsob pa nang husto itong super typhoon, possible worst-case scenario ay Signal No. 3 over the  extreme Northern Luzon area which is Batanes,” he said.

As of 5:00 p.m., Ordinario said it will become almost stationary on Thursday.

“Ito ‘yung pagkakataon na kukuha ng buwelo itong Bagyong si Henry papaakyat at tutumbukin nga nito ang bahagi pa rin ng southeastern China,” he said.

PAGASA reiterated that Henry will be closest to the extreme Northern Luzon on Friday evening.

“Paalala sa ating mga kababayan sa extreme Northern Luzon – Batanes and Babuyan area, na maging handa sa malalaking alon at malalakas na hangin na dala nga ng Bagyong Henry,” he said.

“Possible na maghatak ng habagat na magpapaulan pa rin lalo na sa kanlurang bahagi ng Hilaga at Gitnang Luzon,” he added.
