PSC chairmanship turned over to Eala

Jose Emmanuel “Noli” Eala formally took over as the new chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) on Monday, Sept. 5, at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

PSC Chairperson Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo and former Chairperson William “Butch” Ramirez was present during the turnover ceremony.

Commissioner Coo expressed gratitude to Ramirez for the “successful leadership in the last six years” in PSC. She also extended a warm welcome to Eala as she assured support for the Filipino athletes and to the Philippine sports.

“We would like to thank Chairman Ramirez for the successful leadership in the last six years. To Chairman Noli, we welcome you. On behalf of the PSC workforce, we are here to support all your endeavors. We are here to be of service to all the athletes and also to Philippine sports,” Coo said.

“Chairman needs our help, our support. For if he succeeds, the PSC and the Philippine sports will succeed,” Ramirez said.

Meanwhile, Eala expressed gratitude to Ramirez for serving the commission as “a firm and dedicated leader and public servant.”

“He is someone I always believed to display the leadership of a true public servant. Quiet yet firm and dedicated. What he has done for the commission will forever be remembered,” Ramirez said.

“I am a firm believer of continuity of programs particularly of those that have been gainful and progressive. We will build upon the foundations already laid out for us. From the Batang Pinoy to the Philippine National Games, we will look for ways to improve these programs to ensure their sustainability in the long term,” he continued.

Eala also urged his colleagues to “be extraordinary” and make a difference in their fields.

“Let’s do our tasks with extraordinary passion, extraordinary energy. Go the extra mile in performing your work. Let’s make a difference in our job,” Eala said. –Katrina Gracia Consebido/gb
