PDEA awards P9.6-M to 11 informants

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) awarded a total of P9.6 million to 11 civilian informants after reporting high-value targets.

PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva commended the informants identified through their codenames: Dream, Indah, Aquaman, Mashu, and seven others for providing information that led to the successful conduct of anti-drug operations.

“Balot man sila sa takot at pangamba, naglakas ng loob pa rin magsumbong upang makatulong sugpuin ang iligal na droga sa kanilang mga lugar,” Villanueva said.

He also stressed that human intelligence is still a critical factor behind every intelligence-based operation.

“Mas maraming mata at tenga sa kalsada, mas mabilis nating matutukoy ang mga taong sangkot sa droga at agarang mapipigilan ang kanilang masasamang hangarin,” he added.

“Operation Private Eye” (OPE) is PDEA’s long standing citizen-based information collection program designed to encourage the active participation of private citizens to report illegal drug activities in their communities. -Report from Denevin Macaranas/KC – gb
