BuCor to probe reported serving of pork to Muslim, Seventh Day Adventist PDLs

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is set to investigate the alleged  serving of food containing pork to Seventh Day Adventist and Muslim persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) as reported by the Commission on Audit (COA).

BuCor Chief Gerald Bantag has instructed his staff to look into the details of the report stating that inmates were allegedly served pork by the caterer contracted by BuCor, even if it is prohibited in their religion.

Under the law, religious practices must be respected in jail facilities.

–Report from Mela Lesmoras/KC-ag
