Southwest monsoon to bring rains across Luzon

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

Most areas in Luzon will experience rains caused by the southwest monsoon, the weather bureau said Monday, Sept. 19.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and the northern portion of Palawan including the Kalayaan Islands.

Flash floods or landslides are likely in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate winds and moderate seas will prevail over extreme Northern Luzon.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said no low pressure area was monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Up to 34 °C temperature is forecast over Tuguegarao; up to 32 °C in Legazpi, Kalayaan Islands, and Puerto Princesa; and up to 31 °C in Metro Manila.

Cebu and Zamboanga’s temperature is up to 33 °C; and up to 32 °C in Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro and Davao. – gb
