BTS to enlist in military

By Clarissa Delos Reyes

Members of BTS are set to perform their mandatory military service in South Korea, their agency announced Monday, Oct. 17.

“Since the creation of BTS over ten years ago, the band has risen to international success, broken records, and catapulted K-Pop into the global stratosphere,” Big Hit Music said in a statement.

The news comes after the group performed a free concert in Busan, South Korea to over 50,000 fans earlier this month.

“After the phenomenal concert to support Busan’s bid for the World Expo 2030, and as each individual embarks on solo endeavors, it’s the perfect time and the members of BTS are honored to serve,” BigHit Music said.

The group’s oldest member, 29-year-old Jin, will start the process at the end of the month following his solo music release.

BTS released an anthology album earlier this year called “Proof,” which included three new songs.

One of the songs, “Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment),” was described by their label as “more than just a track from their latest album.”

“It is a promise, there will be much more from BTS in the coming years,” BigHit Music said.

According to their record label, the band plans to reunite around 2025. – gb
