‘Paeng’ death toll climbs to 98

The death toll from Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng” has climbed to 98, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Monday, Oct. 31.

Of the number, 58 were confirmed and 40 were being verified. More than half of the deaths recorded came from the Bangsamoro region.

Meanwhile, NDRRMC said 69 people were injured and 63 others were missing.

“Paeng” affected 590,990 families or 1,953,814 individuals.

Damage to infrastructure was pegged at P435.4 million in Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region.

The storm, which made landfall five times, is expected to leave the country later on Monday and head toward southern China.
