President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived in Bangkok, Thailand at around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, to begin his four-day working visit in line with the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM).

The President and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, along with members of the Philippine delegation were aboard PR001 which landed at the Don Mueang International Airport. They were welcomed by Filipino and Thai officials.

Earlier, in his departure statement, Marcos said he brings with him during the summit a hope for a peaceful and prosperous Asia-Pacific region.

“Mga kababayan ko ang dala natin sa ganitong klaseng mga summit at saka mga meeting ang ating mga pangarap para sa magandang buhay,” he said.

He said he will also meet with other leaders to discuss food and energy security, and the economic inclusion of the country’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), among others.

He is also looking forward to open economic potential, digital economy participation, sustainable development, and addressing the climate change crisis.

“In addition to the APEC meetings, the First Lady and I will meet Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua  and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, who graciously granted a royal audience [for] the APEC Leaders and their spouses,” he said.

“I will meet of course with Thai business leaders on the APEC sidelines to invite investments and seek business opportunities, to promote the Philippines — our economic agenda and our exports,” he added.

The chief executive is also scheduled to meet the Filipino community in Thailand before returning to the Philippines.
