PBBM: Gov’t to build more shelters to address housing backlog

By Katrina Gracia Consebido

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said Monday, Dec. 5, the national government will continue building high-rise housing units to address its backlog and provide decent shelter for Filipinos.

During the ceremonial turnover of house and lot units from the National Housing Authority (NHA) in Naic, Cavite, Marcos said the government is eyeing to replicate the BLISS Project of his late father, former President Ferdinand Marcos to catch up with a shortfall of housing units at 6.5 million.

Ngunit pinag-aaralan natin ito siguro case-to-case ito,” Marcos said.

The President said the government is finding a way to resolve the increasing need for more houses through the help of different entities including local government units, Department of Human Settlements and urban Development, and NHA.

Marcos also ordered building “robust” house buildings that can withstand any natural calamities and secure the safety of each family recipient.
