President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. vowed on Tuesday, Dec. 6, to resolve the challenges hounding the country’s business sector, including red tape, digitalization, and energy cost.

During his speech at the 11th Arangkada Philippine Forum 2022, Marcos also highlighted the importance of business and investments in the country’s development.

Marcos assured that the Anti-Red Tape Authority is “working very hard” to make the ease of doing business in the Philippines better.

“We have improved but we have ways to go for that. We talked about digitalization and how important that is going to be to improve the ease of doing business,” Marcos said.

“A more ticklish problem is that of energy which is another one that keeps coming up and especially with the volatility in the markers now especially when it comes to fuel that has become an even more severe problem than it used to be. But we are working on it,” he added.

According to Marcos, the long-term plan is to move the mix from traditional fossil fuels to renewables in terms of supply producing more energy.

He also vowed to start constructing power plants and create close partnerships with different chambers of commerce.

“I consider the participation of the private sector, both local and foreign, to be absolutely to our success,” the President said.

“So that is why we must continue this partnership between the chambers of commerce, the private sector, and the government,” he added. – gb
