32 firecracker-related injuries recorded by DOH

Three days before New Year’s Eve, a total of 32 cases of firecracker-related injuries have been recorded by the Department of Health (DOH).

DOH said these cases were 39% higher compared to 2021 (22 cases) and 22% lower than the five-year average (41 cases) during the same time period.

Of the number, 22 injuries occurred at home, while 10 occurred in the street.

Five cases were allegedly intoxicated with alcohol at the time of injury.

DOH said four cases were hospitalized. No death was reported.

Meanwhile, there were no reported cases of fireworks ingestion and stray bullet injury. -ag
