The whole country will experience rains caused by three weather systems, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Thursday, Jan. 12.
The low pressure area (LPA) last tracked 380 km east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, and the shear line will cause scattered to widespread rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern and Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao and the provinces of Negros Occidental, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands.
The two weather systems will also cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao and the province of Romblon.
These areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy, with at times intense rains.
PAGASA said rains will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of Mimaropa, and light rains over the rest of Luzon due to the northeast monsoon.
Meanwhile, the whole country is forecast to experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.
Rough seas will prevail over the eastern seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon.
Rough to very rough seas are forecast over the eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.
PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small seacraft not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves. – gb
