The death toll from flooding in parts of Visayas and Mindanao jumped to 35, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported Monday, Jan. 23.

A total of 12 casualties were recorded in Zamboanga Peninsula, eight in Northern Mindanao, seven in eastern Visayas, six in Bicol Region, and one each in Davao Region and Soccsksargen.

Twelve individuals were injured while seven were reported missing.

A total of 475,680 families or 1,939,860 persons were affected by the massive rains and floods. – gb
