Davao school probes alleged bullying incident

A university in Davao assured on Friday, Jan. 27, that it is probing an alleged bullying incident at one of its campuses after a video of it made the rounds on social media.

In the viral video, a student was seen choking another student inside the school’s comfort room.

In a statement, the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDu) said school authorities have already met with these students and their parents.

“Appropriate interventions are being implemented based on the Ateneo de Davao Junior High School Student Discipline Code, the DepEd Child Protection Policy, and the Data Privacy Act of 2012,” AdDU said.

“We ask everyone to respect the privacy of the students and their families and to avoid engaging in misinformation,” it added.

AdDU maintained that its university is still a “safe learning climate for students” and assured that “misbehavior will not be tolerated.”

The University added that disciplinary sanctions could be imposed on the guilty parties. -ag
