Magnitude 4.6 quake hits Davao Occidental town

A magnitude 4.6 earthquake hit Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental Tuesday noon, Jan. 31, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, hit 51 kilometers (km) northeast of Jose Abad Santos at 12:31 p.m.

It had a depth of focus of 57 km.

Instrumental Intensity II was recorded in Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental, while Instrumental Intensity I was logged in Kiamba and Malapatan, Sarangani.

No damages and aftershocks are expected.
